Fayette County operates a county wide 911 disptch center.

* Announcement Channels: Each service has an announcement channel set up. This makes life easy for the 911 dispatchers who only have to select one channel and broadcast an announcement to all radios within a system group. I.E. If you are monitoring FD03_OPS on a radio on the system and the 911 Dispatcher transmits on FD_ANNCE you will here the announcement. More applicable to police for BOLO's but has been used with all services at some point or another since the TRS went in.
** A channel has been established on our TRS to provide interoperability with the Westmoreland County Hazmat Team 800. This was done since Westmoreland county has in operation a conventional 800 MHZ repeater used for something. Hazmat and EMA radios from Westmoreland County supported Type II talkgroups, so we put this channel in their radios to provide agency interoperability.
*** A channel has been established to provide backup communications with Allegheny Power. One radio is in Greensburg the other is at the Lake Lynn Power Plant for APS. Other users are on this channel. This channel provides a comm link between 911/EMA and APS for Lake Lynn. It also provides a backup link for APS Greensburg to communicate with the Lake Lynn Power Plant.
